According to Ramayanam, Rama sent Hanuman to His brother Bharathan to tell him that He was on His way and asking him not to jump into the fire. Hanuman returned after giving the message but found that Rama had had his dinner without him. Angry, Hanuman sits in front of Rama, instead of at His feet. There is a separate sanctum for Hanuman in this temple.
One can pray to the Lord here for good health, wealth and knowledge. Another speciality of this temple as per Hindu mythology is that couples who have separated would get united if they worshipped here. Generally temples for Rama are constructed facing South so that Vibishana, after his cornonation following the end of Ravana could ever worship Rama in the North. But the Mudikondon Temple is facing east as Bharadwaja Rishi wanted to have a Darshan of Sri Rama with Sita and Lakshmana with his crown. Instead, Sri Ranganatha shrine is installed facing South. The tank is behind the temple. Hanuman shrine is opposite to that of the Lord. The idol of Sri Rama is so beautiful with a slight bending holding the bow.
The important festival for this temple is on the third Saturday of Purattasi. Sri Rama Navami utsavam is also celebrated for 10 days.

Mudikondan Venkatarama Iyer
The mudikondan not only known for the ancient excellencies but also for classical music the well known mudikondan venkatrama iyer. An article was published on Hindu in praise of him the article says this way
A LECTURE-DEMONSTRATION on the nuances and unique style of neraval singing of the Mudikondan School, was organised by the Devaganavali Trust in memory of Mudikondan Venkatarama Iyer on October 31, his death anniversary. Venkatrama Iyer learnt the art of singing pallavi and neraval from stalwart gurus Simizhi Sundaram Iyer, Vedaranyam Sri Swaminatha Iyer, Konerirajapuram Sri Vaidyanatha Iyer and Ammachatram Kannuswami Pillai. He passed on this legacy to his disciples B. Krishnamurti and R. Vedavalli, who were the resource persons for the evening's lecdem.
Manodharma singing is the most difficult part of a concert. This is where impromptu responses are called for and is the true test of the mastery and creativity of the artiste. When pre-rehearsed and memorised, neraval and swara passages rob a concert of its natural flow and spontaneity. "There is no right or wrong in manodharma singing. One can sing neraval without following it with kalpana swaram, or for any meaningful line in the pallavi, anupallavi or charanam," remarked Vedavalli. Krishnamurthi recalled that his guru once sang an elaborate neraval for the line `niluparani' in the charanam of the Kalyani varnam. He went on to demonstrate the difference between the neraval done for a line in the kriti and that done for a pallavi. He chose the pallavi `Gana lola karunalvala' in Todi.
Brief snatches of neraval singing clearly showed Vedavalli's mastery over the art. This came she said ``with years of sadhana and practice. My guru would lie down and apparently be resting but he would tap his feet to the rhythm of a tala and in his mind would churn out some difficult pallavi and the following day there would be an extraordinary neraval in the concert."
The programme ended with an interactive session with the audience. Vidyashankar and S. R. Janakiraman shared their views on the subject. The Devaganavali Trut is run by the disciples of Vedavalli and it aims at preserving and archiving the rich traditions of Carnatic music.

KNOW SOME TRUTH -VISHNU SAHASRANAMAM
Yuthishtra said: Please tell me who isthe Supreme Personality of Godhead, the ultimate controller of the universe? Who is thye ultimate destination of all living beings? Whom should men glorify and worship in order to attain auspiciousness? and What do you consider the best of all religious processes? What mantra should one chant to become free
from the bondage of repeated birth and death?
Bheeshma Said: The Supreme Personality of Godhead is the controller of all moving and non-moving beings within the universe, and He is the worshipable master of all the demigods. His transcendental forms and qualities are all unlimited, and He is the best of persons. One should always enthusiastically glorify Him by chanting the vishnu-sahasra-näma (Thousand names of Lord Vishnu).
There was never a time when Lord Viñëu first came into existance, and there is no time in the future when He will cease to exist. He is the supreme master of all planets, all living entities, and all the demigods who control the universe. He is the all-pervading, all-knowing witness who sees everything. A person who regularly glorifies Him becomes free from all material miseries, and in that liberated condition becomes full of transcendental bliss.
"If one chants the two syllables Ha-ri, even once, he becomes free from all material bondage."

By giving them the nectar of His association, Lord Kåñëa brings to life the devotees distressed by His absence (jéva). He protects His devotees as if they were His own children (vinayitä), and He is perfectly aware of How they are distressed by not being able to associate with Him directly (säkñé). His smiling face is as beautiful as a kunda flower (mukunda), and He uses His unlimited prowess to protect His devotees (amita-vikrama). From Him the Garbhodaka ocean has emanated (ambhonidhi), and He takes rest, reclining on a couch that is the
serpent Anantadeva (anantätmä). He peacefully reclines on Ananta-näga even when there is a great inundation at the time of universal destruction (mahodadhi-çaya), and even at this time, He is splendidly handsome (antaka).

The legend
Rama visited sage Bharadwajar before leaving for Lanka to fight Ravana. The sage offered Him dinner which Rama refused. He said he would go to Lanka, kill Ravana and only then take the dinner.
After killing Ravana, Rama kept his word. His pushpaka vimanam landed at the hermit's place and that is where the temple stands now.
Venkatachalapathy temple:Tirumala is the famous abode of Sri Venkatachalapathy. But the deity is enshrined in temples across the villages of South India. One such temple, ancient, is in Mudikondan village near Nannilam in Tiruvarur district.
The moolavar is Sri Lakhminarayana with Sri Devi on His lap instead of in His chest as commonly seen.
The Utsavar is Bhoodevi Sri Devi samedha Sri Venkatachalapathy. Worshipped as a varaprasadhi the deity is affectionately referred to as `kalana' Venkatachalapathy for the simple reason devotees in distress just set aside a 25 paise coin praying for relief and the Lord never fails them.
A shrine for Hayagreeva was a later addition, quite popular, especially among students.
The temple was renovated in 1978 and kumbhabhishekam performed. Consecration has been planned, after 27 years. The vimanam will be refurbished and the compound wall, which is in bad shape, will be set right.the temple was renewed recently and kumbabishakam was done a month ago. pattachariyar of this temple is Mr.Srinivasan & sowrirajan.
